School Closure – COVID-19

15 March 2020

Dear ISD Parents,

After today’s meeting between the government, RIVM, medical specialists and schools, the Cabinet has decided that as from tomorrow Monday 16 March, all schools and daycare centres will be closed for students until at least 6 April.

For the health and wellbeing of our children, parents, staff and other members of our community, we at ISD, feel that this is the most prudent decision to take. And we are in full support!

The situation that we find ourselves in, is unique and we understand that parents might have concerns about the continuation of the education.

Over the last few weeks we have been working proactively on a plan to continue the learning for our students. Both in Primary as in Secondary, our students already make use of and are familiar with, various digital platforms. These platforms will be used to make arrangements for a challenging and engaging homeschooling program.

Tomorrow, the staff of ISD will further detail and elaborate the distance learning arrangements. We will inform you of the details of these arrangements by tomorrow afternoon.

From Tuesday 17 March onwards, the digital learning program will be available for children and students to access from home.

Furthermore, schools have the responsibility to provide childcare for children of parents with ‘vital’ jobs like healthcare, police etc. Could you inform us as soon as possible if this situation is applicable to your family?

Our schoolboards Laurentius and Lucas, are looking for solutions to provide childcare for children from parents with vital jobs centralised in a few places.

We are confident that ISD staff and students are up to the challenge in this unique and unsettling time for the ISD community.

Meanwhile, do feel free to contact our communications officer, Mirjam de Bruin, m.debruin@internationalschooldelft.org for queries you might have.

Thank you for your ongoing support,
