The city of Delft

Located in the province of South Holland, just between The Hague and Rotterdam, Delft is a city of around 100.000 inhabitants. It is a city of great charm with the best Holland has to offer in the field of art, history, science and technology. Delft is known for its Delft Blue ceramics and the painter Johannes Vermeer (‘master of light’), who lived and worked in Delft almost all of his life. Delft is proud of its historic ties with the Dutch royal house.

Technological heart of the region
Delft is also a modern city of knowledge and innovation. It has Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), many knowledge institutions such as TNO, Deltares and UNESCO-IHE and major knowledge-intensive companies such as DSM and Exact. The Technological Innovation Campus Delft forms the technological heart of the region, and is the testbed for countless innovations in the area of renewable energy, water management and health for the future.
