The event took place in the presence of Alderwoman Karin Schrederhof, Lucas Education Board Chair Ewald van Vliet, and ISD Secondary Director Minke Veeneklaas. Following brief speeches, a flag was raised at the highest point of the new building at 5:15 pm, symbolizing the progress of the construction project. Before the ceremony, parents, students, and other guests were given a tour of the construction site.

A Significant Step for the Future of ISD Secondary

Alderwoman Karin Schrederhof highlighted the importance of the new building for the city, saying, “Delft has a diverse and international community. Thanks to International School Delft, Delft has become even more attractive for international employees with young children to live and work. With this beautiful, permanent location, international education and its community will now become a lasting part of our city.”

Modern and Sustainable School Building

The new ISD Secondary building will be prominently located on the TU Delft campus and meet the highest sustainability standards. Modern facilities, including science and technology labs, spacious classrooms, and art studios, will create a stimulating environment for students. The building is designed to support both the academic and personal development of students, with a focus on innovation and intercultural understanding.

ISD Secondary Director Minke Veeneklaas views the new building as an essential milestone, stating, “This new building allows us to accommodate our growing student body and provide them with the best possible educational facilities. We are proud to offer an inspiring environment where students can develop into global citizens with a strong academic foundation.”
