We are very proud that the IB has approved ISD Secondary for authorization to offer the Middle Years Programme. This is great news and a fantastic outcome of two years of hard work by our dedicated staff, supported by the whole ISD community, all under the inspiring leadership of Ms Minke Veeneklaas and Ms Evelyne Le Poole.
To become an IB World School offering an IB programme, schools must demonstrate that certain Practices and Programme requirements are in place and that planning is in progress for others. Since the opening of ISD Secondary in 2019, the school had been awarded the candidacy status for the IB MYP. Over the last two years, we have worked hard to meet all the requirements that the IB sets for the MYP and to successfully undergo the rigorous authorization process.
The full report on the school authorization is extensive and detailed and is based on the verification of the evidence provided before and during the MYP verification visit in May. The visiting team has found that all IB MYP Programme Standards and Practices are in place!
The IB team provided a few recommendations with guidance for the school to further develop the programme. Even more important at this moment are the commendations: school practices that are beyond what reasonably could be expected of the school.
We are particularly proud of the commendation about Teaching and Learning:
“ The school has built a stimulating learning environment based on understanding and respect throughout the school community”. This is the core of our mission, and we are proud that the IB acknowledges and commends our joined efforts as a community of teachers and learners.
Meanwhile, we need to take a few final steps to formally complete the authorization process in ISD Secondary’s journey towards becoming an IB World School by August.
Congratulations on the efforts the school has made so far in working towards authorization. We would like to thank all staff, students and parents who played a part during the IB MYP accreditation process and online visit. We couldn’t have done this without your support.
