‘If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need’
Since all students have returned to school, we are using our Media Resource Center/Library as a ‘home’ classroom for MYP 2A. The Media Resource Center offers more space than some of our other classrooms, so we can safely respect the 1,5-meter guidelines with all students in class.
On Tuesday 13 April, ISD opened its new temporary library as a partition of the lounge area. The library shelves have been restocked with books, including new additions to our growing collection. From now on, our students, following a roster, will have the opportunity again to feed their reading hunger and borrow books.
The new media resource center has been rebranded, with the help of our students, as the M.I.N.D – a center for Media, Investigation/Inquiry and Discovery. With this rebranding, we hope the M.I.N.D will become a central place within the ISD community, where students meet up and learning and discovery takes place.
In addition to the new brand name, we added a new tagline for the library: ISD – a growing reading community. To celebrate the festive opening, our director Mr Jaap Mos officially cut the ribbon to reopen the library during an online assembly. After this, two students, planted the first two seedlings two symbolize our ‘growing community’. Later, all ISD secondary students will plant a seedling in the ISD garden in front of the library.
