The Executive Board of the Stichting Lucas Onderwijs has appointed Ms Minke Veeneklaas to the position of Head of School International School Delft – Secondary. Minke succeeds Jaap Mos, who as the Founding Director of the school has laid a solid foundation for the school over the past two years. The appointment will commence on 1 August 2021. Jaap will stay on until this date, to ensure a smooth transition.
International background
Minke grew up in a Dutch, internationally-oriented family. Together with her parents, she lived in several African countries and attended international schools.
After finishing her Master’s degree in Geography and a Post Graduate in International Education, Minke started her career at the International School of The Hague and found her home base near Delft. “For seventeen years, I worked at this wonderful school in various roles, including leadership roles within the International Baccalaureate Programme. This experience supported Minke in the last two years in her role as the Deputy head and MYP coordinator for the newly opened ISD Secondary. During this period, she led the accreditation process for the IB Middle Years Programme, which will be finalized this summer.
Jan Andries Wolthuis, Regional Director for Stichting Lucas Onderwijs: “I have every confidence that Minke, with her vast experience in international education in various leadership roles, is the director who will be able to lead and continue develop the school successfully.”
Minke – a mother of two, aged 13 and 15 – is looking forward to this new step in her career: “My ambition for ISD Secondary is to build, together with the primary school, a community school where children and their families of all nationalities feel recognized and at home. To connect our community with all the good Delft has to offer, such as innovation, design and technology. And to help children develop into conscientious, inquisitive and sustainably-minded people.”
