Safety comes first

At the International School of Delft (ISD), the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a school environment where all students feel safe, supported, and respected—so they can grow, learn, and thrive.

"Children can only truly grow and learn when they feel safe and secure."

A Safe and Caring Learning Environment

Safeguarding is a shared responsibility at ISD. All staff members play an active role in supporting students’ personal and social development through our PSPE (Personal, Social and Physical Education) curriculum. We use the IB Learner Profile and restorative practices to help students build strong relationships, resolve conflicts peacefully, and develop the skills they need to become caring and responsible members of society.

In the Middle Years Programme, students also receive dedicated support during mentor hours, where personal and social education is explored in a safe and structured setting.

Clear Procedures and Legal Compliance

ISD follows the Dutch Wet Meldcode (Law Reporting Code), which provides clear steps for responding to concerns about child abuse, neglect, or domestic violence. All staff are trained to recognize signs of concern and know how to act responsibly and confidentially, in line with national child protection laws.

We take every concern seriously and ensure that all reports are handled with care, discretion, and professionalism.

Working Together

We believe that safeguarding is most effective when schools and families work together. If you ever have questions or concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our staff. We are here to listen, support, and take action when needed.
