A Day at ISD

At International School Delft, every day is a unique adventure. From the first bell to the last, our students experience a blend of academic rigor, creative exploration, and personal growth. Here’s a glimpse into what a day at ISD looks like

A day in Primary

Students arrive at the ISD Primary campus by bike, car, or public transport. Younger children are accompanied to their classrooms by parents, while older students head in independently.

Children learn through a mix of classroom teaching and specialist lessons such as PE, music, and Dutch. The curriculum is built around inquiry units that integrate subjects like language, math, science, social studies, and the arts.

Students enjoy a morning snack and outdoor play, followed by lunch in their classrooms and a longer playtime in the afternoon. All breaks are supervised and provide time to recharge and socialize.

Learning at ISD Primary includes regular excursions to places like the Space Expo, TU Delft Science Centre, and local museums. PYP 7 students also enjoy a 3-day overnight camp filled with fun and bonding activities.

ISD Primary celebrates a wide range of cultural and religious holidays, including Diwali, Chinese New Year, Sinterklaas, and King’s Day. Students are encouraged to dress up and take part in themed activities that reflect our international community.

A day in Secondary

Most ISD Secondary students arrive independently—by bike or public transport—to our modern school building on the TU Delft campus, right across from ISD Primary. Students store their belongings in lockers and go to class.

Throughout the day, students follow their timetables, which include subject classes, group projects, and independent study. Some students may have free periods for self-study or collaborative work.

Each student receives a MacBook at the start of their ISD journey. It’s used daily for research, assignments, and online learning. We also teach responsible digital citizenship and 21st-century skills. ISD is a mobile free school and phones should be switched off and kept in the lockers or bags during the day.

Students bring their own lunch or order from an external catering service. Breaks are device-free, giving students time to relax and connect with friends.

All students take part in excursions, cultural outings, and other subject related trips. Every other year students go on a 3 day camp to explore different regions of the Netherlands—from Zeeland to Friesland. These trips help students bond and create lasting memories.

We love to celebrate! Events like Halloween, Christmas, Sinterklaas, International Week, and Spirit Week bring the community together. The student council helps with the organisation of our school parties.
