Early years (ages 4-6 years)

Where learning begins with wonder

We believe that play is a powerful foundation for learning. In our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) Early Years, designed for children aged 3 to 6, play is not just encouraged—it is essential. It sparks curiosity, creativity, confidence, and a love for discovery that stays with children for life.

Learning through play, guided by purpose

Young children are natural inquirers. They learn about the world around them by exploring, asking questions, and interacting with others. In our Early Years programme, play-based learning is thoughtfully structured to support every aspect of a child’s development—social, emotional, physical, and cognitive.

At ISD we...

At ISD we create an inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and confident to explore, play and grow.

True Colors Delft (TCD) and the International School Delft (ISD) have established a close collaboration to strengthen the Early Years learning experience. As part of this initiative, a dedicated 0/1 group has been created within TCD, bringing together children aged three and four. The primary aim of this group is to combine the expertise of both the daycare and the school, supporting a smooth and continuous transition from early childhood into primary education at ISD.

The 0/1 group is specifically designed for children who are currently three years old and will turn four during the upcoming school year, and who are expected to transition to ISD. The programme focuses on learning through play, reflecting best practices in early childhood development and aligning with the inquiry-based philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme.

This collaboration represents a significant step in our shared commitment to educational continuity, high-quality early years provision, and the holistic development of every child.
